Perched just 15 metres from the ocean’s edge, The Bay House offers breathtaking views of the Tauranga Bay surf break and Wall Island to the north. Just 100 metres south, Penguin Bay and Nine Mile Beach complete this stunning coastal setting. Step out of your beach studio or garden suite, and within 15 to 40 metres, you’ll find yourself on the beach. Explore rock pools, bask on soft golden sands, or dive into the waves - surf lessons are available for those eager to ride. The Kawatiri Coastal Trail offers scenic walking and biking routes, while nearby tracks lead to the Fur Seal Colony and the breathtaking Cape Foulwind Walkway. Choose to do it all… or nothing at all. As the day winds down, let the rhythm of the ocean and the chatter of penguins lull you to sleep. Stay for a couple of nights (one is never enough!) and soak in the tranquility of our little corner of Eden.

Bayhouse, Cape Tauranga, Westport, New Zealand.
My wife and I stayed at the Bayhouse for two nights in Feb 2023. We had the Studio 1 which is right at the front with unobstructed views. It was a lovely cottage. Top of the range appliances. The bed was super comfortable . The unit was very clean and well presented. Our hosts, Sandra and Doc were lovely people and couldn't do enough for all their guests. I would highly recommend this property even though it is about 15k from Westport. The local pub is only 3 k down the road. 10/10.

Had an amazing stay over Christmas. Beautiful room facing directly onto Taurang Bay so had an outstanding view. Very private unit not overlooked at all. So quiet and relaxing with the sound of the surf. Beautiful fixtures inside. Comfortable bed and amazing toilet! Kitchenette was great for our Christmas needs. Comes with a continental breakfast each morning which is very nice with juices, fruits, cereals toast and great coffee! Sandra and Doc are lovely hosts who happy to assist with anything. We loved our stay and look forward staring again

Everything you could wish for, and more you hadn't thought of.This was undoubtedly the highlight of our entire NZ trip. These cabins take quality and luxury to a whole new level, taking advantage of a truly amazing location on the cape.
The view is unparalleled, no matter the weather - we experienced massive storms, and gentle sunlit evenings and enjoyed every moment.
Doc and Sandra were brilliant hosts, and more importantly made the best coffee we tasted in the entire country. Breakfasts were excellent, but the fittings in the units were what really showed the effort they have put into making sure staying at the Bay House is an unforgettable experience.

Absolutely stunning…in every detail! Doc and Sandra have created an oasis on Cape Foulwind. The contemporary construction is designed with such thoughtful detail. The views are stunning. Furniture is positioned for viewing the sea from both inside to outside. Breakfast on the deck with espresso drinks…simply amazing. The capper is your two wonderful hosts! We booked 5 nights for next year!

The perfect location The location and views simply take your breath away! A beautifully furnished accommodation with a wonderful balcony to enjoy the stunning scenery. Falling asleep listening to the sounds of the ocean - heaven! The hosts are fabulous - warm and welcoming, providing lots of information and a very tasty breakfast! Cannot recommend highly enough.
